New York Camps for Kids

74th Street MAGIC
74th Street MAGIC (Music Art Gymnastic Instruction Center) offers classes for kids in music, art, and gymnastics (as the name suggests), but it also offers instruction in cooking, science, karate, Spanish, and the performing arts.

Abrons Arts Center/ Henry Street Settlement
Henry Street's core divisions include a multidisciplinary arts center, shelter and supportive services, behavioral and health services, senior services, home care services, a workforce development center, day care centers, and after school and summer programs for neighborhood youth.

ArchiKids and ArchiCamp
ArchiKids offers young people the opportunity to explore the built world around them and to stretch their imaginations, with a goal of educating and inspiring children through architecture. A child doesn't necessarily need to aspire to a career in architecture to enjoy the ArchiKids programs, just a strong sense of curiosity about the world and a desire to explore and test new ideas.

Basketball City
BasketBall City, New York's premier basketball facility, contains six air-conditioned, full-sized basketball courts complete with hardwood floors, glass backboards and electronic scoreboards. Courts are available for private rental. Basketball City also contains a complete fitness center, men's and women's locker rooms and a sports lounge. Throughout the year, Basketball City offers a variety of youth camps, clinics and special events for both boys and girls. Birthday Parties too.

Brooklyn Music School
The Brooklyn Music School provides instruction in music and dance,including rap and hip-hop poetry as well as professional performances. A summer Arts Camp is offered in July.

C.A.T.S.
CATS is the first and only comprehensive children’s sports training program in the country for children ages 1-12. CATS now offers a broad spectrum of activities that are for adults as well: Bikram Yoga, Kids Yoga, Dance, Martial Arts, and their newest program yet - Aqua CATS in their full sized pool.

Children's Museum of the Arts
CMA's mission is to encourage children between the ages of one and 12 to develop their full creative potential through the visual and performing arts. Children can view special exhibitions, participate in hands-on workshops, enjoy independent projects and activities, or play in the ball pond.

Flushing YMCA
Flushing Y offers programs and classes for adults, teens and kids. These include swimming, basketball, karate, tennis, gymnastics, dance, and racketball. There's an extended day program, childcare & preschool for kids 2.9 - 6 years of age, and vacation camp for kids in K - 8th grade. Babysitting is available for adults while using the facility.

Greenpoint YMCA
The Greenpoint Y offers an Afterschool Program, swimming classes, karate, ballet, Summer Camp, Sports Leagues, Birthday Party facilities, computer classes, Full and half-day Preschool, Holiday Camps, a Teen Center, Leaders Club, and Youth and Government (the latter both for teens). There's also a Kids in Control Community Service program. Guest rooms are available on a nightly and weekly basis.

Hi Art!
Culture Bugs Mini Camp returns for its ninth summer in 2006. Like Hi Art, the program combines an on-going exploration of painting, sculpture, and installations at NYC museums with in-studio sessions of opera, dance, film, and theater. The program is offered three days a week, Tue-Thu, with both half and whole days options available. A full week session is also available during the first two weeks of August.

Jewish Community Center
The JCC's state-of-the-art building houses a full service, 137,000 foot facility with nursery school, auditorium, pool, gym, a rooftop playground, fitness center, arts & crafts, photography, cooking, contemplative space, senior adult and teen center, day camp, after-school programs, and more. Truly a building for the entire community.

Kids at Art
Kids at Art focuses on the basics of the visual arts, offering age-appropriate projects and classes for kids ages two to 11. Classes are limited in size so that each child receives individual attention; the process is just as important as the finished project.

Little Spirits
Little Spirits is designed and created for children of ALL abilities, ages 2 through12. The facility features a trampoline, indoor rock climbing, a magnetic spider wall, an enormous ball pit, and hosts a variety of programs and services for children and families. Little Spirits offers an After School Program, arrangements for Parties, Play Groups, Classes, and more.

NYC Elite Gymnastics
Providing children with expertise in gymnastics and dance while building their confidence and self-esteem. Holiday Camp available for Winter & Spring Breaks. Birthday parties and Super Saturday Fun Nights. Adult gymnastic lessons too.

P3 Baseball Training Center at Pier 40
The Pier 40 baseball youth training program offers baseball and softball instructional skills classes, vacation camps, coach and league clinics, after-school programs, individual instruction and Summer baseball program.

Prospect Park YMCA
The Prospect Park Y offers activities, classes and programs in swimming, Karate, arts & crafts, cooking, music, reading, science and more. Two fitness centers boast cardio equipment, spinning bikes and strength machines. Further, the facility now offers 138 long-term Affordable Housing Units for low-income New Yorkers. These residents are provided a variety of programs including job training, computer training, nutrition workshops, gym instruction and a women's issues group. Recreational activities such as Bingo, monthly birthday celebrations and day trips are offered to residents. A visiting nurse provides health services bi-weekly.

Rhinelander Children's Center
Part of the Children's Aid Society, the Rhinelander Center offers numerous early childhood, nursery school, and afterschool programs. Lessons in the Visual & Performing Arts (Ballet, chorus, Violin, Keyboard, Guitar, and Voice), Computers, Arts & Crafts, and more are on offer. There's a free Saturday program for deaf and hard of hearing children. Summer programs include a mini-camp for 3-5 year olds and a Country Day Camp for 6-11 year olds.

Riverdale YM-YWHA
When school vacations loom, consider the Y's Vacation Camp programs. Fees range from $40-$45 per day, and run from 9am-5pm, with early/late stay available for an additional fee.

Steps on Broadway
Offering a variety of classes taught by a professional faculty. Adults and children of all abilities explore the world of dance, hone their skills, and enrich their appreciation. "Tiny Dancers" program for 2-3 year olds. "The School at Steps" summer program fills quickly.

The Baseball Center NYC
The Baseball Center New York City excels not only in teaching the mechanics of playing Baseball and Softball, but also excellence in mental preparation. Afterschool programs, private lessons, Youth League play, and batting cage rentals are all on offer. The Center offers packages for birthday parties and runs a summer camp.

The Edgies (Educational Alliance)
This community center on the Lower East Side provides a variety of programs for children, teens, adults, seniors, and families. The Alliance is most well-known for its Arts School, which holds a plethora of classes for adults and children, in addition to family workshops.

Tony Dapolito Recreation Center
Rec Center complete with 2 gyms, 2 fitness rooms, dance room, an indoor & outdoor pool,indoor track, arts & crafts room, ball field, 5 handball courts, bocce court, playground, kitchen and computer resource center. After school programs for kids. Other programs include fitness, yoga, kickboxing, swimming, volleyball and more. Summer camp and sports leagues for kids too.

Vanderbilt YMCA
This branch offers a multitude of classes as well as daycare, camp, and league sports for children of all ages. Offerings include Family Swim Program,Y-Swim Lessons, the Early Childhood Center, a year-round daycare program for children ages 6 months to 4.5 years, Adult & Me classes in gym, art, and music, Nursery Camp, sports, gymnastics, martial arts, and an afterschool program.

West Side YMCA
The West Side Y is the largest of the 19 branches in Greater New York, and has extensive facilities, including two pools, a basketball/volleyball gym, a boxing/martial arts gym and other facilities for adults. This branch offers wonderful writing programs for kids and teens, in addition to the usual classes and programs.

Wet Paint! Art Studio
Wet Paint! provides art instruction and education for kids ages six to 15. Hands-on workshops are offered on weekday afternoons and are lead by practicing professionals utilizing real artists' materials. Afterschool progams and lessons are offered as well as a Summer day camp program.
