5K Midnight Run in Central Park
Hosted by the New York Road Runners Club, this event takes particiipants from 72dn Street to the Central Park East Drive north to 102nd Street and back. Better yet, forego the $25+ registration fee and enjoy the free prerun costume show and fireworks. |

Dachshund Friendship Festivals
The Dachshund Octoberfest is held on the first Saturday in October. The Dachshund Spring Fiesta is held on the last Saturday in April. Both meet under the Arch in Washington Square Park in New York City at Twelve Noon. The festivals are free and open to all. Some people dress their dachsies in costumes but that is not necessary. |

The visiting Fleet Week vessels are open for free public tours daily.
